Alvinette Collie, LPC

Staff Therapist

Philosophy

Therapy is confidence building, restorative, and supports all areas of a client’s life: mental, physical, and emotional. Overcoming personal challenges and obstacles has given me a deep understanding of how painful events can be a catalyst for growth, transformation, and empowerment. In collaborating with clients, my goal is to be supportive and facilitate conversations so that clients can open up freely about their adversities, create solutions, and gain positive perspectives so they can identify their achievable goals.

Alvinette received her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Missouri- St. Louis with an emphasis in trauma and her Master’s in counseling from Missouri Baptist University. She strives to create a comfortable and safe space for clients to express their feelings, free of shame and judgment to an unbiased person who can offer feedback that promotes healing, restoration, and understanding.

Using a collaborative, client-centered approach that integrates various treatment techniques (e.g. Solution Focus, CBT, integrative), Alvinette helps clients build strength and meet life challenges. Alvinette works with adolescents, young adults, individuals, couples, and families on a number of issues: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, school issues, and adjustment to other adverse life events. She believes a change in thought creates a change in behavior.

Alvinette enjoys visiting museums, seeing plays, reading, traveling, and spending time with family when she has free time.
