Dr. Marisol De Jesús-Pérez, LP

Staff Psychologist

Philosophy

I strive to develop a strong allegiance with the clients I serve because I see myself as a partner in their unique journey. My goal is to accompany each client during a season of his or her journey and encourage growth and restoration. I consider that some of the most important roles I undertake are helping clients develop insight into their lives and empowering them to take steps to steer their lives in the direction they want to take.

Dr. De Jesús-Pérez is a bi-cultural and bilingual Latina who possesses over ten years of experience in the provision of psychological services to children, adolescents, and families at high-risk. She derives profound meaning from working with immigrant families and children who have experienced traumatic events (e.g. sexual abuse, domestic violence, exposure to violent crimes, abrupt separation from caregivers, etc.). Serving families who deal with these circumstances gives Dr. De Jesús-Pérez the opportunity to foster resilience and empower them to flourish despite their circumstances.

She has worked in numerous outpatient clinics affiliated with Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles, California. She also has experience providing psychological services to hospitalized children and adolescents suffering from severe medical and psychological conditions in major children’s hospitals. She often offers workshops and seminar to parents and community leaders involved in the provision of services to children and adolescents. Moreover, Dr. Jesús-Pérez has served as a preschool mental health consultant for the City of Santa Monica (California) helping teachers develop skills to work with children that present with behavioral challenges and mental health difficulties. Dr. DeJesús-Pérez is well trained in conducting bilingual assessments for children and adolescents. She has vast experience evaluating infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Also, she is skilled in providing psychological assessment for children with complex medical conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, cancer, and craniofacial anomalies.

Dr. De Jesús-Pérez is also an ordained minister of the Free Methodist Church. She has served as an assistant pastor for over 15 years. She has significant experience providing education for church leaders and candidates to ordination to equip them to address the challenges often encountered in ministry, including the provision of pastoral care and counseling.
