Staff Therapist

Philosophy

I am very passionate about seeing individuals, marriages and families do well and flourish amidst the current culture. I am driven by my faith and my calling is to help those I serve to capitalize on their strengths. I used an integrated approach of biblical counseling with human validation process model with a solution focused approach.

In addition to the call to preach and teach God’s word, Dr. Robinson has a passion to serve in the area of Christian Counseling. As he has journeyed through life, he has experienced a strong desire to see God’s people reach the destiny God has for them. He lives with a since of calling to bridge the gaps between generations and denominations and to win the lost to Christ.

He also has a strong passion for family, particularly for men, especially minority men. Dr. Robinson believes that family is the foundation of society. If an individual has a strong positive family foundation, then they have an upper edge at being successful in life. His desire is to minister to families, and to individuals; this is why he pursued a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling on a licensure track. He wanted to make this ministry a part of his vocation. The more he embraces the calling of God to this field, the more he is grateful for every experience that he has had in life so far, the good, the bad, the positive and the negative. He believes certain life experiences have equipped him for service in this area, such as growing up with divorced parents, being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which currently has no cure, and being a cancer survivor. The celebrations in his life have been just as impactful, if not more, a rewarding education and career, loving family and friends along with opportunities to travel the nation and globe.

Another helpful benefit in preparing Dr. Robinson for this task in ministry is the acknowledgement of his own personal struggles. He is eternally grateful for God’s grace and mercy in this area and for the loved ones in his life, especially his wife, who loves him well, and supports and challenges him to be the best version of himself. When he is procrastinating, mis-prioritizing or distracted, his wife’s gentle voice of love and concern redirects him toward the path of his true course of rectitude. He currently desires to be a guiding voice for others by supporting them as they discover their purpose. passion and plan.

Dr. Robinson obtained a PhD in marriage and family therapy from Texas Wesleyan University in 2020, and is an ordained Elder and licensed minister by the Church of God in Christ, where he has served as the Youth and Family Life Pastor in the local assembly. He is married to Dr. Christina Castleberry Robinson, a pediatrician and professor to medical students in the city where they live. Together they have two children, Jonathan and Kaitlin.

A licensed professional counselor-supervisor, Dr. Robinson has served as a master’s level clinician at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center near his home in North Texas. He is currently in private practice specializing in couples and individual therapy. Dr. Robinson sees himself as a man of God called to impact change in our current generation. He feels called of God to do this through his vocation as a counselor and a preacher of Christ’s gospel. His passion for marriage and family impacts his desire to see men rise to take their God ordained place in the family.

Dr. Robinson enjoys spending time with family and friends and serving alongside them at church. He and his family joined the Hills Church in January of 2023.
