Philosophy

My goal with every client is to create a relaxed, personal and safe environment where you can feel supported in your journey. I will actively partner with you to offer guidance, reflections and ideas, and tailor an individual treatment plan that’s right for you. Through therapy, you will learn the skills needed to successfully overcome the challenges you are facing in your life. I have worked with children, teens, adults and families for over 12 years and am passionate about helping my clients find answers to the difficulties they are facing. Together we will work to help you live your best life in the coming years.

After receiving her BA, Laurie initially worked in Advertising and in Human Resources but it was through her volunteer work in the community and in her church that led her to recognize her passion to help others. Working as the Director of a family assistance program Laurie gained experience in supporting children and families, eventually obtaining her LMSW and her LCSW licenses. She completed a one-year internship with Plano IDS, where she worked with the Special Education Counseling Team helping students grades K-12 with diagnoses including ADHD, High Functioning Autism and mood disorders. As the therapist on staff at Christ UMC in Plano, Laurie was blessed to see a wide variety of clients in her private counseling practice.

In her downtime, Laurie enjoys cooking, reading, being outdoors and family dinners with her husband, their two adult children and new son-in-law. She is an active member of her church, where she has volunteered for food drives, Thanksgiving meal distribution and mission trips. She and her husband are originally from the Washington, D.C. area but have lived in Dallas-Fort Worth for almost 25 years and consider their Texas home!
