My professional mission is to provide education, de-stigmatize mental illness and substance dependence; to provide culturally competent therapeutic services and allow my clients and the community to understand the connection between mind, body, and soul.
Monica completed her bachelor’s in Communication at UTEP and Master’s in Social Work at UTA and is Licensed Masters Social Worker with experience in mental health and substance dependence. She has years of experience as a mediator and working with Minority populations. Monica is resourceful and passionate educator, with the ability to understand and adapt to individuals she is working with. She has provided mentorship to social work students, interns and professionals.
She has a broad range of clinical experience working with individuals and groups across life spans. Her experience ranges from acute hospital setting, military personnel, community outreach and substance dependence, focusing on those that are underserved and underrepresented. Monica is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Crisis Intervention. She is invested in a methodology emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic and holistic approach to mental health.
Monica enjoys spending her free time, walking/hiking, spending time with friends and her dog, art, volunteering and the theater. Traveling and enjoying new cultures and meeting new people is a big passion.
