Philosophy

If you are overwhelmed, hurting, frustrated, and stressed it is time for a change. You are in the right place, and have taken a courageous step in seeking help along your healing journey. I am honored to come alongside you as we help you to overcome your past, live more mindfully in your present, and make positive changes for your future. With me you will find a warm, non-judgmental, empathetic environment that helps to breed authenticity, healing, and hope. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process where we will work together to develop a plan unique to your needs to help you work towards balance and achieve your goals.

My goals as a counselor are to meet my clients where they are, create a safe and caring environment, build insight, process emotions, behaviors, lives, and relationships, teach healthy ways to cope, work towards change and healing, and empower my clients to move forward and live their lives wholeheartedly.

Nicole has 20 years of counseling experience in many different environments that have helped her to form an eclectic approach to counseling to meet the individual needs of her clients utilizing different theories, techniques, and solutions. While attending Texas A&M for her undergraduate studies, Nicole was part of the Prime Time Mentor program which began her love of working with children and their families that were in need of healing and teaching them new skills to overcome past abuse. At Dallas Baptist University while working on her Master’s degree, Nicole participated in extra courses and experiences to specialize in Marriage and Family counseling and Christian counseling.

Nicole has worked in private practice, tele-therapy, in patient and out patient hospitalization, mobile crisis counseling, and with patients from age 5-88 of all different ethnicities, religions, economic status, and backgrounds. She offers premarital and marriage testing and counseling utilizing her training with the Prepare/Enrich program. She has experience with individual, couples, family, and group counseling, and she attends many continuing education trainings and seminars in order to stay current with her skills, and continue to add to the ways in which she can help her clients with the variety of issues that might bring them to counseling. Nicole has spoken at fundraisers for grief/loss, seminars on healing from anxiety, and has spoken at schools about how to overcome test anxiety. Nicole is passionate about counseling and helping others.

Nicole was born and raised in Central Texas and moved back to the area 15 years ago after living for 2 years in Evergreen, Colorado. Nicole has been married to her husband, Brian for almost 24 years. They have 1 beautiful daughter that is in her first year of college so she is adjusting to an empty nest. Nicole loves to spend time with her family and friends, travel, read, cook, visit her daughter, and go dancing with her husband. Nicole is an active member at Fellowship Bible Church and is a leader of their Regeneration group. Nicole plans to use her time as an empty nester to earn some new counseling certifications, travel more, learn new skills such as sewing and baking, and hopefully talk her husband into learning how to ballroom dance.
