Philosophy

I know that life can be emotionally painful, and we find ways to protect ourselves from the hurt. In some ways, these practices help with surviving, but in other ways it can leave us feeling stuck and confused. I deeply value being able to come alongside, offering holistic support to remind that life has restorative beauty and joy within it. Within the therapeutic space, I aim to create a safe and nurturing environment. My goal is to empower and guide as underlying issues become understood and develop strategies together to break free from unhealthy patterns.

Rachel spent 6 months abroad on an immersion mission trip, shaping desire to help others and finding alignment within the treatment of others through social work values. This led to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker receiving a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Early career background includes work with Victim Services providing crisis counseling, as well as providing case management services through a Medicaid waiver program to those living with disabilities. She has spent time working with adolescents, adults, and families who are experiencing mood disorders, trauma, and distressing emotions. Prior to The Center, Rachel worked in a psychiatric hospital facilitating group therapy and offering support during a patient’s most vulnerable time.

Outside of therapy, Rachel can be found spending time in a good book, playing pickleball, and having adventures with her husband and her two very, furry dogs.
