Philosophy
Every day that you show up, I promise to be present with you by offering love, empathy, and attentiveness. In doing so, I believe that it will create a safe place for you to find the strength to grow and heal. Together we will discover that you have the ability within yourselves and in community to flourish. Since play is the language of a child, we will process a child’s grief, trauma, needs, and/or experiences through playful activities and a welcoming environment, which will increase their self esteem, communication, and independence. If you are a parent, I will partner with you every step of the way as you rebuild connection, improve communication, and set boundaries to foster a strong and healthy relationship for you and your child.
Rebekah received her Bachelors in Marketing from Judson University and her Masters in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, with a specialty in children and families. Prior to DTS, she served as a missionary in the slums of Brazil, working with kids and teens. Her experiences there have made a significant impact in helping her care for those with trauma. During her graduate work, she worked at Vogel Alcove providing play therapy to homeless children, ages 3-11 years of age. She also worked at Park Cities Baptist Church as the Sports and Recreation Director and more recently moved into the Children’s Minister role in 2024, where she is still currently serving.
Rebekah is passionate about bridging the gap between mental health and the church. She will continue working at Park Cities Baptist Church and now with the Center to provide opportunities to serve the community by integrating spiritual and mental health care. She believes that every individual is unique with individual strengths to grow and learn, which is why she takes a client-centered approach while utilizing other modalities for specific needs and situations.
On a personal note, Rebekah loves sports and played college basketball. Today you will find her playing basketball, working out, or mountain biking with her husband. She and her husband love exploring, cooking, and traveling together!
