My philosophy is to provide a safe and compassionate space of acceptance to help clients build on their strengths and learn healthy coping skills to deal with life’s challenges. I strive to walk alongside clients to be an advocate and aid in building mental and relational wellness.
Sharyl has lived on opposite ends of the earth – in Singapore in Southeast Asia, and then in Canada and the United States. Her cross-cultural experiences have shaped the way she partners with clients and families, and she is passionate about advocacy and multicultural competence. Prior to The Center, Sharyl was a doctoral practicum student at Dallas ISD Youth and Family Center where she worked extensively with children and adolescents, and their parents. She was also a doctoral practicum student at Children’s Health Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders where she worked with a multidisciplinary team and learned the importance of a systems perspective to mental health.
In her free time, Sharyl enjoys traveling, trying new foods from different cultures, singing and playing the guitar.
