It is an honor to be able to accompany you on what I imagine must at this very moment seem like a difficult, overwhelming and uncertain time in your life. I consider it a sacred mission to provide you with guidance and support on this journey, whether it be by helping you to process painful trauma that you may have experienced in your lifetime or by helping you to obtain the necessary tools and knowledge that you need to address other issues with which you might be currently struggling. I am committed to providing services with compassion, integrity and in a way that helps you to find and use your voice.
Sonia is a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor whose passion for working with trauma survivors (especially those who have experienced complex trauma) was born from years of experience in both community mental health centers and private practice settings. Sonia has had the privilege of providing individual counseling, more recently using EMDR therapy techniques, to those who have been wounded by experiences of childhood abuse and domestic violence. Sonia also has experience counseling children and adolescents who present with behavioral issues and loves to help parents to improve their relationships and build stronger connections with their children. Sonia is one of a few bilingual EMDR certified therapists in Texas.
Sonia says, "When I am not spending alone time recharging my introvert battery, I love having brunch with my close-knit community of friends, participating in church events and working out. No matter what is going on in my day I make sure to make time for daily prayer and connection with the Lord. I also love going on pilgrimages; in late December 2019 I had the amazing experience of traveling to the Holy Land and hope to go back there some day."
